Falls Creek Snow Jobs

Mountain Operations

Mountain Operations is one of the largest departments in the resort and is responsible for everything from the bottom of the slopes to the highest peaks. All roles will require you to be involved in working outdoors in variable weather conditions.

Lift Operator
Lift Operators are the first point of contact for our guests on the mountain, ensuring a safe and seamless lift experience. They provide outstanding customer service, creating a welcoming and positive environment while helping guests enjoy the slopes.

Groomer Operator
Maintain and ensure all runs are in pristine condition for our guest’s enjoyment throughout the resort. This role involves evening and early morning shift work and experience working in a ski resort is essential.

Snowmaker
Monitor snowmaking equipment to ensure the highest quality snow, while assessing temperature and weather conditions. This role involves evening and early morning shifts, and requires experience with automated snowmaking technology or prior outdoor work in a ski resort.

Terrain Park Attendant
Ensure the safe daily maintenance, inspection, and presentation of all park features. This guest-facing role involves enforcing safety policies, assisting with events, and maintaining a visible, approachable presence to create a fun and safe terrain park experience.

Race and Events Team – Assistants & Specialists
Our Race & Events team are the engine behind every seamless Alpine, Freeride and Freeski competition and event on snow. From race timing and results specialists to event administration and outdoor operations assistants – if you’re an experienced skier, thrive in fast-paced environments, love working on snow, and enjoy supporting athletes and events, we have a place for you.

Hospitality & Commercial Experience

The Hospitality & Commercial Experience department offers customer service-based roles throughout the resort from hire and retail to guest services.

Guest Service Assistant
Guest service assistants are customer service stars who go above and beyond to help create lasting memories for our guests. Assist in selling and validating our tickets, passes and Snowsports lesson products as well as providing information on the resort.

Retail & Rental Hire Attendants
Our retail and rental attendants are fountains of knowledge when it comes to the latest tech and best fit of equipment and outerwear for each customer. From experienced rental technicians and boot fitters to retail and hire attendants – if you know the gear and love providing outstanding customer service, we have a place for you.

Snowsports School

The Snowsports School offers a variety of roles including both on-snow and off-snow opportunities. Roles include Sales & Scheduling, Children’s Program Assistants and Certified and Trainee Ski and Snowboard Instructor positions.

Our certified ski and snowboard instructors are experts in helping guests of all ages and abilities get the most out of their time on snow. Uncertified Ski & Snowsports Instructors
Have you ever thought about becoming a Snowsports Instructor? Make this the year you get on the slopes and start your journey. Falls Creek Snowsports School is looking for strong skiers and snowboarders, skilled and confident on intermediate to advanced terrain in varied conditions, who love snow and are excited to learn how to teach others.

We provide full on-snow APSI Level One training and your first APSI Level One exam at no cost for successful applicants. Plus, all our instructors benefit from ongoing professional development throughout their employment. Make this the year you leap out of your comfort zone and chase your dreams of working on snow!

Winter Sports Coaches – Alpine & Freeride
Our Winter Sports Coaches bring expert skills and a passion for snow to every session, helping athletes and guests improve on and off the slopes. Specialising in either alpine racing or freeride disciplines, if you are an experienced coach, who is also keen to instruct at all levels, and thrive on challenging and inspiring others, we want to hear from you.

Children’s Program Assistants
Do you enjoy working with children and being outdoors in a snowy environment? Our Children’s Program Assistants love nothing more than to help our younger guests discover the magic of snow. Whether you have a background in childcare, teaching, sport, or recreation - or simply love working with children — then this role is for you!

Our support crew have a pro-active approach to work, strong people skills, uncompromised patience and exciting personalities. If you enjoy being outdoors, have experience working with children and are excited about experiencing the snow and our mountain environment - then we want to hear from you! Junior Program Assistant roles are also open to locally-based applicants between 16-17 years of age.

Junior Instructors (16-17 years)
If you’re a local resident (Falls Creek or Alpine Shire Area) aged 16–17 and curious about joining our Snowsports team, we’d love to hear from you! You'll support our senior instructors working with the Falls Creek kids’ programs. Duties include assisting with teaching area set up, guest check-in, class level assignments and shadowing senior instructors while teaching a class.

As a Junior Snowsports Instructor you will complete your APSI level 1 certification in the early season and become an active support in our children’s programs. This is the perfect opportunity to have you ready to join our Instructor team once you reach 18. Applicants must be 16–17 years old as at 1st June, live locally under parental supervision during their employment, reside within the Falls Creek resort or Alpine Shire area, and preferably be attending a local school.

International Applicants

Do I need a visa?

Anyone working for Falls Creek must have the right to work legally in Australia. This means you will need a visa with work rights.

The most popular type of visa to work at Falls Creek for young adults is the 'Working Holiday Maker’ program for those who want to extend a holiday and work in Australia to fund it.

For some skilled roles such as certified and experienced Snowsports Instructors and Groomers we may support successful candidates who are not eligible for a Working Holiday Visa to obtain a suitable work visa for Australia. The Talent Acquisition team will contact successful candidates that are foreign residents with further information.

Can I extend my working holiday visa with you?

To apply for your second or third visa and check your requirements click here: Working Holiday (subclass 417)  or here: Work and Holiday (subclass 462). 

Unfortunately, working with us does not qualify as 'specialised work' in regional Australia for the purpose of extending a Working Holiday Visa.

What are the language requirements?

How do I apply?

Go to the Falls Creek Careers Centre.

Click “Search” and then click on the title of the position that you wish to apply for.

Check the job description and click on “Apply Now” to start your application.

When do applications open?

Applications for winter season employment typically open the first week of February. You can complete an expression of interest in the Falls Creek Careers Centre to be notified when applications are open.

We also recruit for many roles all year round, so keep an eye out as there may be something for you!

How do I log into the online portal?

Go to the Falls Creek Careers Centre.

Use your email address and password to log back into your account at any time.

If you have forgotten your password, click "Forgot Password?" and a reset link will be emailed to you.

How do I attach my resume?

Click "Browse" and select the document you wish to attach.

You must click on the "Attach" button to upload your resume. You have correctly attached your resume if you can see the document name under “Resume.”

Make sure to save before you close the webpage.

Can I attach a new resume?

Yes. You may login to your account and upload a new resume and update any of your personal details at any time.

Go to “My Info” then scroll down to resume. You will have to remove your current resume before attaching a new one.

How can I check on the status of my application?

Login and go to “My Jobs” and you will be able to see the status of each application.

Can I change my email address?

Yes. To change your email address, login and go into “My Info”. Enter your new email address in the email address text box.

My password is not working

You can request a new password here. If you have tried to log in and have 5 failed attempts your account will lock automatically.

To unlock your account, please contact human.resources@vailresorts.com.au. We will unlock your account and send you a new temporary password.

Can I apply for more than one position?

Yes, you can apply for up to three positions at a time. We encourage you to focus on roles that best match your skills and experience. If you’re unsuccessful in one role, you’re welcome to apply for another.

Offers and Contracts

How will I receive my offer of employment?

Successful applicants will have an employee profile created and receive an electronic letter of offer containing all details of the position offered. As a successful applicant you are required to either accept or decline your offer by the expiry date. Once an offer is accepted, you will receive further pre-employment onboarding activities to complete.

What is a Tax File Number?

As part of being employed in Australia, you will need to obtain a Tax File Number (TFN). You can apply online for your TFN once you are in Australia and should do this directly with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) here.

Obtaining a TFN is FREE. Do not be scammed into paying companies to obtain a TFN on your behalf.

Tax will be withheld from your pay, and you may need to lodge a tax return each year. The requirement to lodge a tax return will depend on how much income you earn during the year. You are a “working holiday maker” if you have a Working Holiday (subclass 417) or Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa.

What is Superannuation?

Australian Superannuation is a form of saving for retirement in Australia. Your employer must make regular payments into a fund for employees towards their future pension. Simply, ‘Super’ is money put aside by your employer over your working life for you to live on when you retire from work. Your employer will open a Superannuation account for you if you do not elect to supply an existing fund.  

International employees leaving Australia can apply to have Superannuation paid as a Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP). You can find more information on the Australian Taxation Office website.

What should I do if my contract details are incorrect?

Email human.resources@vailresorts.com.au along with details of your concern and HR will address the issue and reply to you in a timely manner. Please include a copy of any qualifications/certificates that might affect your rate of pay. 

Can I apply to work for a different department?

New applicants can apply for up to three roles that they feel suit their interest, skills and experience.

If you have worked for Falls Creek previously and would like to apply to a different department you will need to log into the Falls Creek Jobs website and apply for the role you would like to change to.
